Rift Soul Trees Guide | Which Souls?

Here you will find a description of each classes Rift soul trees. Before choosing your class in Rift you should always take a look at what souls are available to that class. It may surprise you that some classes are able to choose some non-traditional soul trees.

Mage Souls – Rift Soul Trees

Archon- The Archon Rift soul tree is comparable to a vampire. They must steal their opponents energy to turn it into beneficial magic. While this can be useful in weakening enemies it can leave the mage vulnerable.

  Chloromancer-  This Mage soul tree is a combination damage/healing class. The chlormancers use nature magic to draw life from enemies and heal their party members.  Chloromancer Soul Tree
  Dominator- The mind control powers of the Dominator soul tree are what give this soul power. This soul mainly acts as a support roll and can give a group the upper hand. Dominator Soul Tree
  Elementalist  – This soul tree allows the mage to summon an elemental to aid him/her in battle. These elementals can cause some serious damage to enemies. Elementalist Soul Tree
  Necromancer- If you are looking to solo with your mage you might consider picking up this soul. The Necromancer soul tree gives you the ability to summon an undead pet which will help you slowly drain enemies health.  Necromancer Soul Tree
  Pyromancer- Pyromancers talents focus around fire damage and distance spells. They are great damage dealers as well as soloers. They still can not take much damage but their fire spells help them prevent up close combat.  Pyromancer Soul Tree
  Stormcaller-  The abilities in the Stormcaller tree focus around the powers of wind, air, water, and storms. They get a number of useful damage and damage over time spells but do best in a group.  Stormcaller Soul Tree
  Warlock- The Warlock soul tree focuses around doing damage over time through the power of death and decay. This is not a recommended class for soloing unless paired with Necromancer.`  Warlock Soul Tree
 (PvP) Archmage- This soul was introduced for mages who would like to try out the PvP system. They can curse, banish, and do direct damage spells.  Archmage Soul Tree

Warrior Souls – Rift Soul Trees

  Beastmaster – The Beastmaster soul tree gives the warrior the ability to summon an animal companion to help aid them in battle. Because of this pet the Beastmaster soul tree has some great solo and leveling build qualities.  Beastmaster Soul Tree
  Champion – In the Champion soul tree warriors can choose the ability to do massive damage with two-handed weapons. They will trade some damage avoidance for a great deal of speed in the Champion soul tree.  Champion Soul Tree
  Paladin – The Paladin soul tree in Rift generally acts as a holy tanking class. They can wield shields and plate armor but are not as good at warding off magical damage as they are physical.  Paladin Soul Tree
  Paragon – Paragon soul tree abilities in Rift generally give the warrior more speed and damage with dual wield. Getting this extra damage does come at the cost of damage avoidance and magical avoidance with this class.  Paragon Soul Tree
  Reaver – The Reaver soul tree makes for a great tanking warrior. This tree offers a good deal of damage avoidance and damage over time abilities/talents.  Reaver Soul Tree
  Riftblade – Abilities from the Riftblade soul tree allow the warrior to actually do a bit of ranged fighting. This is unique to Rift as traditionally warriors remain close up fighters. Riftblades can also do great damage magically but are pron to the same attacks.  Riftblade Soul Tree
  Voidknight – The Voidknight soul is unique in the fact that it gains its powers from absorbing hostile spells. Most warriors complain of being very prone to magic while the Voidknight can resist such attacks.  Voidknight Soul Tree
  Warlord – Warlord soul tree abilities are basic warrior type abilities some will enhance damage while others focus on damage avoidance. This is your all around basic warrior soul tree.  Warlord Soul Tree
 (PvP) Vindicator – The vindicator soul tree is perfect for those wishing to try the PvP system in Rift. Many of the abilities will help counter some of the various attacks from other classes.  Vindicator Soul Tree

Cleric Souls – Rift Soul Trees

Cabalist – The Cabalist soul tree allows the cleric to use a number of sigils which can cause great damage. The Cabalist soul tree is best used in a group or raid even PvP. Solo players should look elsewhere.  Cabalist Soul Tree
  Druid – The Druid soul tree draws it’s power from fairies. These powers help them to avoid damage and to do damage. If you are looking to be a battle cleric you will want to consider the Druid soul tree.  Druid Soul Tree
  Inquisitor – Inquisitor soul tree abilities draw their power from the forces of life and death. They break the bonds of traditional clerics by utilizing both types of magic but can never master either.  Inquisitor Soul Tree
  Justicar – The Justicar utilizes the melee damage to directly heal themselves and allies. Because they can heal and do melee damage they can typically be good for soloing and leveling builds.  Justicar Soul Tree
  Purifier – Purifiers use the purifying aspects of fire to heal and cure their allies. This is a straight up support/healing class and is best used in group and raiding situations.  Purifier Soul Tree
  Sentinel – The Sentinel soul tree is a great example of a battle cleric who also works as a secondary healer. Sentinel trees paired with more healing trees will increase their power while maintaining some melee damage skills.  Sentinel Soul Tree
  Shaman – The Shaman is another good example of a battle cleric soul tree. This tree uses the power of the elements to heal and protect the cleric in close melee combat.  Shaman Soul Tree
  Warden – The Warden soul tree focuses around long over time healing as well as large heals. These soul traits are great to have for raiding and even grouping where battles last longer and may require more healing.  Warden Soul Tree
 (PvP) Templar – Templar soul traits will enhance the clerics ability to PvP. Whether you decided to be a DPS in PvP or a healer in PvP you will want to consider some of the traits in the Templar soul tree.  Templar Soul Tree

Rogue Souls – Rift Soul Trees

  Assassin - Assassins get their power from the element of surprise. Able to stun and do massive amounts of damage up front are the abilities given in the Assassin soul tree.  Assassin Soul Tree
  Bard – The Bard soul tree uses the song to give the bards soul tree power. Bards get a number of songs which can help them heal, support a group, and do damage.  Bard Soul Tree
  Blade Dancer - The Blade Dancer is a great soul tree to choose for those wanting to be a DPS character. They can dual wield and do damage very quickly. They do not take damage well so this is not an advisable solo or leveling tree.

  Marksman – If you are into ranged attacks you might consider the Marksman soul tree. This soul tree will help you master the use of your bow and ranged attacks. They can do a number of attacks consisting of a combination melee/spell damage.  Marksman Soul Tree
  Ranger – The Ranger soul tree is a great tree to consider for soloing a rogue. Rangers can tame wild companions to aid them in battle while they stand back and use their bow skills. This is a great soul tree to combine with Marksman.  Ranger Soul Tree
  Riftstalker – The Riftstalker soul tree is mainly geared towards DPS. With most of the Riftstalker soul abilities you will be trading damage avoidance for damage dealing powers. This can leave a Riftstalker vulnerable while soloing.

  Saboteur – For those looking to take on a more strategic soul tree the Saboteur can be great fun. This soul tree requires the rogue to pre plan fights by setting up explosives. These abilities can be great for soloing if used properly.  Saboteur Soul Tree
  Nightblade – The Nightblade is a rogue soul tree infused with the powers of fire and death. The abilities in the Nightblade soul tree focuses around damage dealing through weapons and spells.  Nightblade Soul Tree
 (PvP) Infiltrator – Infiltrator soul tree talents are best used on the battle field. This soul tree was created to help the rogue gain an upper hand while in PvP. Combined with other souls this tree can be extremely powerful.  Infiltrator Soul Tree
