Rift Leveling Guide | Exploring Your Options
One of the great things about leveling in Rift is that you have many options for gaining experience. This helps cure the boredom that can come from long level grinding sessions. Knowing each of your options will help you to best choose which experience path to choose and when.
Knowing Where Your Options Are – The Rift Map
The first thing you will want to do when leveling in Rift is get familiar with your map. This can tell you where your closest opportunities are.
When leveling up to 50 you will want to limit travel time as much as possible. There are three specific icons which you should be familiar with.
The first and most basic is the question mark. This icon will show you where quests are. The second and third have to do with opening Rifts and invasions. These events are explained in detail later.
By consistently checking your map you can check for new opportunities popping up around you.
Experience Options in Rift
There are three common ways to gain experience in Rift. There is also a fourth (PvP) but this Rift Leveling Guide does not recommend using PvP as a sole option for leveling in Rift for new players.

Questing in RiftIf you haven’t gotten questing down by now you are in serious trouble. The game starts you out questing because it is one of the best ways to gain experience in Rift without losing your mind! Grabbing a lot of quests in one area will help you maximize your efforts. Accepting some quests will even trigger more quests to pop up on your map! Make sure you read the quest text so that you know where each quest is completed at and which quests can be completed near each other. You should never be soloing questing. As this Rift Leveling Guide has mentioned before you should always be looking at your map for more experience opportunities. |

Closing Rifts for ExperienceRifts are events that pop up around hunting locations. These are part of a sort of invasion. Killing creatures near or in a rift will cause an event to start. If the event has already started you will be asked if you would like to join the current group closing the rift when you get close enough. You should always join the group to make sure you can take part in experience and loot from the rift. Rifts should be closed in a combination with questing and killing creatures. |

Rift Invasions and Experienceoften times new Rift players will confuse Rift Invasions with opening Rifts. What actually happens is if a Rift opens and is not closed it will cause mobs to start attacking areas around the rift. These invasions can be closed up before or after the actual Rift is closed. They do no give you as much experience as closing a rift but they do grant you some and are very quick to do. If you already have a group from closing a Rift you might want to stick around and see if they start to attack the invasions as well.
