Rift Outfitting Guide | 1-300 Fast Outfitting Skill
This Rift Outfitting Guide recommends pairing the Outfitting profession with Butchering and Runecrafting. This skill uses raw materials from gathered via the Butchering profession. We recommend Runecrafting because it is a the only stand alone skill and requires no raw materials from the other gathering professions.
What is the Outfitting profession?
Outfitters in Rift can create a variety of armor. This armor is in the form of cloth and leather. If you are looking to create chain or plate armor you should check out the Armorsmith profession. If you choose to pair your Outfitting skill with Butchering you will be able to create armor with out having to buy raw materials from the Auction House.
Before you can begin using the outfitting skill you will need to visit a trainer. This trainer will also provide you with new recipes. You can learn these new recipes by paying the trainer a small fee. Each recipe requires a different skill level to be able to access it. The higher skill required to gain the recipe the better the chance of a skill up by making it.
The Outfitting crafting process starts by killing an animal on the battle field. Once the animal is dead you can use your butchering profession skills to skin the animal. This usually returns a hide but can sometimes also return bones and teeth. These you can sell in the Auction house to Apothecaries for profit. Once you have a good number of skins you can start refining the skins at the loom. The loom is also where you will be crafting armor.
Is Outfitting Profitable?
This Rift Outfitting Guide suggests that the most profitable combination of Rift professions containing Outfitting also contains Butchering and Runecrafting. The best way to make money with this combination is to sell your left over Butchering materials as well as your Runecrafting materials made from Runebrake. You can only really make money by selling armor if you have some of the rarer recipes. One of the most popular ways to make money with Outfitting and Runecrafting is to make magical armor via the outfitting skill and use Runebrake to brake it into magical essence for Runecrafting. The essence can then be crafted into augmentations for your gear as well as be sold in the auction house. Because people change their gear so often, augmentations are sold quickly and the market moves out competitions stock quickly as well. Check your local market as it can differ from realm types (pvp vs pve).
