What exactly is Foraging?

Foraging is one three gathering professions available in Rift. The other two gathering professions are Butchering and Mining. Foraging is the process of gathering Plants

and Woods throughout the Rift world of Telara. Artificer, Apothecary and Weaponsmith/Armorsmith pair well with Foraging. Apothecary is probably the best as it will make use of the herbs you will gather to make potions and dye for armor (pretty profitable on the Auction house!). Artificer will make use of the woods you gather, but you will most likely also need Mining to really level Artificer. The same goes for Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing.

How Does Foraging Work?

When you first train for Foraging. You will gain three new skills. Track Plants, Track Wood and Foraging. Track Plants and Track Wood are pretty simple. They will indicate on your mini-map where a Plant or Wood is when you are near it. The Foraging Skill is what you will use to harvest the plant or wood node. Both can be active at the same time. If your Foraging skill level is not high enough to gather, the Text of the name of plant/wood will be in red.

You will need to be near a Workbench in order to make the wood logs you gather into planks for crafting. These will often be found near a Foraging Trainer.

But this Rift Foraging Guide will show you fastest way to level from 1-300 for both Guardians and Defiants. Once you are out of the starting area you will be able to train for your professions.

Novice Skill Level 1-75 – Rift Foraging Guide

Guardian Trainer – Clive Adar – located in Divine Landing, Silverwood

Guardian Trainer – Peligren Tice – located in Argent Glade, Silverwood

Skill level 1 – 35

Coastal Glory (Plant), Grieveblossom (Plant), and Yew Log (Wood) are located throughout Silverwood and Freemarch

You will need to gather about 50 materials to reach 35.

Skill level 36 – 75

Creeperbrush (Plant), and Ashwood Log (Wood) are located throughout Freemarch and Stonefield. You will need to gather about 60 materials to reach 75, then it will be time to train for Skilled.

Skilled Skill Level 75-150 – Rift Foraging Guide

Guardian Trainer – Renwhist Coverdale – located in Bahralt Street, Sanctum

Defiant Trainer – Temur Arslan – located in Epoch Plaza, Meridian

Skill level 76 – 115

Razorbrush (Plant), Krakenweed (Plant), Golden Nettle (Plant), Duskglory (Plant) and Oak Log (Wood) are located throughout Stonefield and Scarlet Gorge. You will need about 80 material to get up to 115.

Skill Level 116 – 145

Mahogany Lumber (Wood), and Wyvernspur (Plant) are located throughout Scarwood Reach and the Droughtlands. You will need about 60 materials to reach 145.

Skill Level 145 – 150

Kingswood Log (Wood), Tattertwist (Plant) and Roc Orchid (Plant) are located throughout Scarwood reach, Shimmersand, Droughtlands, and Iron Pine Peak. You will need a few to reach 150, then head back to the Foraging Trainer (Expert) in either Sanctum or Meridian and come back.

Expert Skill Level 150-225 – Rift Foraging Guide

Skill level 150 – 185

Continue gathering Kingswood Log, Tattertwist and Roc Orchid materials. You will need about 85 materials to reach 185.

Skill level 185 – 225

Runebirch Log (Wood) Located throughout Moonshade Highlands, and the Droughtlands and Drakefoot (Plant) located throughout Shimmersand, and the Droughtlands. At 200 you can start foraging for Astin Pine (Wood) located in Moonshade Highlands and for Bloodshade (Plant) located in Shimmersand. Overall, you will need about 75 materials to reach 225.
